Poem: Let’s Hear it for Green-leafed Trees

Let’s Hear it for Green-leafed Trees

By Nancy Woods

Each fall, red-leafed maples

Grab all the attention

Garnering oohs and ahs

With bus tours centered around them

But where would they be

Without the earlier, green-leafed versions

That transform into burnt-orange

Showstoppers

Brash is one way of being

Meanwhile, give a shout out

To the quiet side of yourself

That occasionally gives way to the bold
